pieces of minds….

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

hey what happened to my blog fan sijing? and the regulars? where have u been? this blog seems lonely without your inputs :P
1 van & 1 sedan or 3 convertibles? that is the question.

my mind seems to be extremely unfocused these days… at work, at school, and even when at home watching tv….

so i’m going to boston with Irene the weekend of aug. 19… who will be there? let me know :)
break dance is so hard >_< i got bruises all over and still can’t do a cool back spin…. very excited about learning sideway moonwalk ^0^ how about i master that? puwahahahahahah. (i’m just dreaming… god knows how long it’ll take to really master a moonwalk…..=\ )

can’t concentrate at work….

i’m wearing a long red skirt that is decorated with tiny bells allover… so noisy when i move….. i hope my co worker is not annoyed :P hahaha dear Mi shipped this skirt to me from taiwan! thanks a lot! so sweet of you ^__^

an update of my life.

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

so many things happened so less words to express them.
life is really full of coincidence and surprises….. unbelievable.

sometimes a person u’ve known for years can feel like stranger
and a person u’ve just met 1 week ago can feel so close.
how do u explain that?

saw a quote today it goes like this:
"you know you are getting old when every new person you meet reminds you of someone u already know."
um… yeah then i am getting old~
even Simba in the lion king can remind me of somebody i know (yeah btw i went to Broadway musical The Lion King  yesterday. it was the ultimate dream realization of many creative designers. the stage and customs were so much fun to watch. Yet, as a musical, taking out the huge budget and fancy visuals, it was only ok. the plot and music tried too hard to stick with the cartoon, but did not explore what more can a live staged musical achieve. lack of power. overall, it’s a very joyful show. wait for discount tho :P)

anyways where was I… oh yeah so the Simba in Hacuna Matata land reminded me so much of a special someone…. i hope someday u can find the king inside u and find your way to the kingdom that u belonged to.

Google Talk

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

try this:
http://douweosinga.com/projects/googletalk

type in several words and let the collective mind speaks. an oracle that speaks the future!

Reminds me of the famous robot "Doc Beardsley," an artificial intelligence CMU student created few years ago.  strings words and thoughts together like a search engine…. below is a example of what Doc Beardsley did:

In a performance space at the
Entertainment Technology Center, Doc hosts a game show called Big Time.
The robot divides the audience into two teams, asks silly questions,
and awards points based on the responses he hears. Once a man in the
audience mentioned bread. That keyword called up a song lyric from
Doc’s memory file: "Tea, a drink with jam and bread," from The Sound of
Music. Doc began singing, and suddenly the interaction clicked. "The
guy responded, ‘Oh, The Sound of Music! I love that movie,’ " remembers
Ron Weaver, another recent graduate who worked on the project. The
movie reference then triggered a sentence about Austrian mountains,
leaving the man feeling as if the robot had responded to him
personally.

it doesn’t have to be smart, it just have to think like us to fool  us into believing he is smart. :)
pretty cool, no?

so back to the google talk. it’s basically the same idea. but simpler oracle and bigger database. If you type in "the Sound of Music" it’ll do searches and respond with most relevant word, then search the new string of word again and respond with another word.. and so on. so i get:
"
the sound of music is  a  leading  international provider  of  enterprise  e- learning  Solutions, in  the  world."
sometimes it makes no sense… sometimes u can get something hilarious~ the point is…. it’s so simple yet so profound. it’s a direct way of speaking with the global mind.

i wish i could thought of that for my EMAC capstone project :P  yeah right… i wish….

Steve Jobs @ Stanford Commencement

Monday, July 11th, 2005

DId anyone read Jobs speech at Stanford Commencement? (http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2005/june15/jobs-061505.html)
I don’t particularly admire Jobs personality, but his three small stories about connecting the dots, love and loss, and death are sincere and inspiring, don’t u think?

Bunny Suicides

Friday, July 8th, 2005

Many of you might have seen this already. in books or online.
for those who haven’t, check it out it’s cute.
for those who have, see it again for a good laugh.

http://unix.rulez.org/~calver/pictures/bunny_suicides/

if this bunny is smart (obviously it is! with all these creative suicide ideas) , it should go find Toby’s owner. that way it can help make tons of money before going to heaven. :P

these days i found internet kinda boring~ dunno where to go at all. :( maybe that’s why i’m always updating my blog XD

Burger Joint at Le parker Meridien

Friday, July 8th, 2005

One of my favorite burger place, Burger Joint at Le parker Meridien, has been voted the best cheeseburger in the country by GQ magazine!

best in the COUNTRY? is it THAT good? i dunno. judge it yourself. I kinda like Corner Bistro better.
but for $5.50 a cheeseburger and the hard to find hideaway, it sure is a cute place to go.
"make your plans now, because it’s about to be swamped!" noted Metro today.

let’s hear our friends opinion… so ppl, which burger place do u like the best?

sky~ sky~sky~ diving~~

Thursday, July 7th, 2005

so i’m back. safely. with a certificate and a DVD and tons of pix!!!
wahahahaha. it was definitely a fun experience. so short tho.
like a dream…. now i think back, it seems so unreal… did I really do it?
(i’m glad that i had the video and stills service… or else 20 years later i’ll think i make these up….)

everyone should go try~
but i think i have some ear balancing problem.
so painful its like my eardrum gonna explode~  that made my free fall very unpleasant (can u tell from my camera-perfect painful face? XD) (oh speaking of the pix, look carefully at my helmet and my hair in the picture, to get a sense of speed…. dropping 1,000feet per second oh)

it happened when I was doing Scuba diving several year ago too
(and YES i tried balancing them. nothing worked)

maybe I am just not Cimg3037Img116suitable for extreme activities? no~~~ >__<
