Middle school girl found startling results in a science project:
Girl’s Science Project May Make You Rethink That Drink Order

Who would have thought…..

that 70 precent of the time, toilet water is cleaner than the ice cubes served in main fast food chains?

Female Bum Behind Valentine Symbol?
http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/200602

who would have thought that, the heart shape we commonly use to express love today, might actually be dedicated to female buttock worship?

it’s interesting how we just take many things for granted, and never doubt its meanings.

imagine if u are back in ancient times, u might be eating a butt-shaped chocolate your gf made for you on Valentine’s day… XD

Yellow Fever

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Ever wonder why there’s so many white guy & asian girl couples and so few white girl & asian guy couples?
Check this out! Yellow Fever :) Philip Wang is hilarious ~~~ (and cute too~ despite the fact that he doesn’t have enough body hair and butt. :P)

yes of course it’s all about the confidence, however, i can’t help but wonder (<- ah, i’m such a S&C victim), does pop culture also play a huge role on placing different stereotypes on asian male and asian female… so that asian female is often portrayed as mysterious/exotic/sexy, while asian male is often geeky/tiny/weak/funny?

an article from 6 years ago by Michelle Chihara, There’s something about Lucy, made a point by discussing asian female movie/tv roles (specifically the fierce lawyer played by Lucy Liu in Ally Mcbeal).

"The characters they (asian female) play tend to fall neatly into the two best-known slots of Asian female stereotype: the Dragon Lady and the Lotus Blossom; the oversexed femme fatale and the blushing ingenue. And none of them is ever matched up with an Asian man."

"If Asian women are seen as exotic and erotic, is it any surprise that white men want to date them? And if Asian men are seen not at all — or, on the rare occasions when they do appear, are portrayed as weak or geeky — is it any surprise that white women don’t?"

while Jackie chan, Jet Li did balanced out William Hung for a little bit, asian male’s media image still has a long way to go to catch up with the ladies…. until then, yeah, guys…. just accept the fact that it’s harder for u to date white chicks than us dating white dudes XD

back from Jury Duty

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

on 2/1, i finally attended my first jury duty (after postponing it for so many years), and got picked as a juror on the very first round on day 1 (that’s 9 out of 200! gosh ain’t i lucky -_-) for an 8 days civil trial.
i heard people saying that there’ll be a LOT of waiting time so i brought a book, hoping to get some reading done… but no… i’ve only waited 3 hours and that’s it… i’m a juror!!
was so depressed at first when i got picked. I’d never think i would get picked!!!! and 8 days??? i have to leave work for 8 days??? darn…

but soon after the trial started, i started enjoying it (maybe partly because of the long lunches). It’s rather educational! very interesting and pleasant for my very first court experience. The judge was very patient in guiding us and explaining to us how everything works.

the case ended early yesterday because they negotiated a settlement. I should be very glad that the 8 days trial turned into a 4 days, but instead i was a little disappointed bcos i didn’t get to see the deliberation process– which could be the most interesting part of all. another dissapointment is that i have to go back to work now :P oh another one is that i didn’t ge much reading done =\

so now i’m back to work… and done my jury duty~ apparently i’m all set for the next 5 or 6 years =)
that was easy :) (and rewarding)

now i kinda miss the long lunches, the short hours, the everyday-u-learn-something-new experience, and my juror group…… but of course~ it’s good to be back! now i can keep up with my friends on gmailing and chatting and friendstering :P (oh speaking of that, just saw the gmail is gonna have this new chatting thing right in gmail~~ isn’t that SO convenient for us? hehe)
